Supporting Local Charity – The Hidden Treasure Trust

It has long been my view that supporting the work of charities is an essential part of the role of being a Chartered Surveyor. At Rickards Oliver Limited, we are proud to support the work of the Hidden Treasure Trust, a charity based in Partington, Manchester which is serving to help residents with a range of complex needs.

The charity started from a summer playscheme organised by members of a local community church. Those running the playscheme realised very quickly that the people attending had a far wider range of needs than were being served by a playscheme and the Hidden Treasure Trust was set up to help address this. What makes the charity so good is that they work alongside people and their families in the long term rather than just providing a “sticking plaster” solution to an initial problem.

The trust runs a food pantry which has subsidised or free groceries; it provides housing advice and support; it provides help with liaising with welfare benefits and with social services.

There is an excellent video in which some of the local residents tell their story about how the Hidden Treasure Trust has worked to help them.

The full range of work is laid out in their presentation document on the link below.

Wherever we are in life, helping others is part of our journey.
